Documentary Analysis: Master Ayub’s Park School
Master Ayub:
Mohammed Ayub Khan is a civil servant, philanthropist and Pakistani educator, who is known to have dedicated the last 30 years of his life to educating underprivileged children in Pakistan. His mission is to provide education to these children who are unable to go to schools or are involved in various notorious activities to pull them out of a dark space. He started off by teaching a child mechanic and then slowly expanded his services whenever he found out that there are children working and not going to school.
He started with the aim of giving back to Pakistan , by willing to contribute whatever in his will power to educate these children and turn them into respectable and law abiding citizens of the country. He has not only been successful in managing his park school located in Islamabad, but he has already produced examples for many of his current students. They are working in companies, going to college and aiming higher for their future. Some of who are also giving back to Master Ayub by giving him a helping hand in teaching and running the school.
The documentary is mostly observational and interactive only with the teacher, and it sheds light on him , the students, their lives and how Master Ayub has coped with the environment and constant pressures of people victimising him. He shares his thoughts on how he wishes to empower the children, and see them turn into doctors, lawyers, army or police officers. His efforts have been recognised by many. The documentary has mainly focused on Master Ayubs interview and the rest contains b-rolls of the children, the park, them studying or while the Master is teaching. There is a slow song playing in the background from the start complimenting the genre of the documentary.
